Goldens in Golden 2022
The happiest event of the year is back!
We broke the record in 2019 gathering over 1,000 golden retrievers. Can we make it to 2,000 this year?!
When?
Trained, friendly and leashed dogs are invited and humans are kindly requested to please clean up after them. The event is weather permitting.

Golden will once again celebrate Golden Retrievers with the return of the “Goldens in Golden” event. Weather permitting, leashed Goldens and their humans will meet at the Golden Visitors Center and parade down Washington Avenue for a group photo under the Welcome to Golden arch. The event celebrates these popular pooches with lots of fun, fanfare, fluff and photo ops.Trained, friendly and leashed dogs are invited and humans are kindly requested to please clean up after them. Event schedule:
- 11 a.m. – Meet and greet at the Golden Visitor Center where you can enjoy complimentary “pup cup” treats, take a professional photo under the mini Welcome Arch, meet Golden based pet organizations and grab free Golden Doggie Bags.
- 11:45 – Group walk to the “Welcome to Golden” Arch for a group photo and mingling along the Avenue.
- 1 p.m. – Official festivities end and Washington Avenue will re-open to vehicle traffic. Afterwards, head out around Golden on your own. There will be many dog-friendly deals, plenty of patios and lots of nearby trails to enjoy!
- One of the local businesses, Gold Mine Cupcakes, will be featuring special pupcakes for our golden beauties. There’s also hotel deals at The Golden Hotel, The Eddy Taproom & Hotel and more.
Plan ahead:
- Goldens in Golden is definitely ON for Saturday since the weather will be good. NOTE: There will be icy/snow packed spots, especially in the shade. If you are not steady on your feet and your dog is not leash trained, we do not recommend attending.
- Note that Clear Creek can be dangerous for humans and dogs this time of year.
- The official “International Golden Retrievers Day” is held on Thursday, February 3rd, but the Goldens in Golden event will take place on Saturday, February 5th.
- If you plan to bring your well behaved Golden to Golden, please keep your pooch leashed and be sure to clean up after them (Animal Control will be on site issuing tickets). Also, please follow all social distancing guidelines and the latest mask mandates.

- How to Dress: Goldens In Golden is an all outdoors event with little cover from the elements. Wear sturdy shoes/boots with good traction as you will likely encounter snowpack and ice. Dress warmly and monitor your dog’s comfort.
